Namaste

Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo!

I honor my highest teacher, That which resides in ME!

GrizzyLove_029.jpg

Namaste, the sanskrit word that ends yoga classes is said by the teacher in respect and gratitude to their students and their teachers. The literal translation is: Bow (nama) I (as) You (the), or I bow to you. The light in me truly sees and honors that same light in you- but what makes that light shine is different for everyone! I am a Thai bodywork practitioner and yoga teacher for all ages and stages of life.

loving-kindness. mindfulness. movement. breath. energy. laughter. play. LOVE. family. MUSIC. nature. gratitude. it's ALL yoga to me. Let me help you find YOUR practice.

Let your light SHINE.

Breathe IN. BREATHE out.

be YOU. have FUN. feel BETTER.

Love & Laughter,

 Your Friend Dayle

Healing

Healing

Thai Bodywork. Reiki. Ayurveda. Essential Oils.

At the beginning of my classes I try to check-in with my students; to see how they are doing- body, mind & spirit. After years of teaching  it became very clear to me that many of my students  were often in pain. Physical, but also emotional, pain- was often what brought them to the mat. I noticed that people would come to class like they were going to a doctor or physical therapist, trying to "yoga it out". I firmly believe that yoga is a wonderful aid in the healing process and for many can be deeply healing in itself, but so many of my students needed more. Wanting to serve my clientele as best I could,  I began my journey with the healing arts. Healing sessions may include one or more of the following:

Thai Bodywork

Hands on adjustments were always a passion of mine, and I became known for my intelligent, feel good assists.  Coincidentally, as a part of my Circus Yoga training we spent a day on Thai Bodywork, combining acupressure techniques with yoga-like stretching and immediately I was hooked. Traditional Thai massage draws upon indigenous Thai practices, Theraveda Buddhism, Ayurveda, Hatha Yoga and Chinese medicine, to clear the energy flow in the body and infuse the receiver with loving-kindness (metta). The massage is done on the floor, completely clothed and can be anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours in length.  After clearing the energy (sen) lines with deep palm and thumb pressing, the joints are mobilized and the body is stretched. Many say that it is like having yoga done to you! I have studied the Asokonanda and Shivagakomarpaj lineages and was honored to be the resident Thai Bodywork Practitioner for the cast and crew of off-Broadways "Fuerza Bruta". This deep style of bodywork is perfect for athletes, dancers and yogi's to improve circulation, flexibility and muscle tone. The most important function of Thai massage is to stimulate the body's energy and natural healing process, which makes it a great complement to virtually any form of treatment.

For clients who are less mobile I offer traditional Thai foot massage and reflexology, which can be performed while sitting in a chair. The massage primarily focuses on the feet and lower legs, hands and shoulders. This massage is a wonderful aid to homebound or hospitalized clients to aid in pain and stress relief, circulation and the body's natural healing processes.

Reiki

Reiki is the name given to a simple yet profound system of natural healing for body and mind. Simply translated reiki means 'universal life force energy'. In different traditions the life force energy can be described as prana, chi, lom, or  spirit.  The experience of Reiki is different for everyone, but most describe it as deeply relaxing,  often with feelings of warmth or tingling sensations throughout the body. As a conductor of reiki energy I will often work with 'hands-off' allowing the energy to flow where it needs and when called may place hands on specific energy centers to aid in the healing process. Reiki, like Thai massage, helps to rebalance, cleanse and renew our internal energy system. When reiki comes into contact with energy that is blocked, imbalanced or sluggish it naturally and effortlessly dissolves, transmutes and raises the quality of that energy to the healthiest level that our body, mind and environment will allow. Ultimately, Reiki is inexpressible or indescribable, only experiential, boundless loving kindness, wisdom, beauty and perfection. I am a level II Reiki practitioner, which allows me to give long distance healing sessions in addition to traditional sessions.

Ayurveda

Ayurveda is known as the sister science of yoga, and can be translated as the science, or knowledge, of long life. What began as an oral tradition over 5,000 years ago has helped to influence many of the eastern healing practices we know of today. As a complement to my yoga practice I originally saw ayurveda as another tool to get to know myself, but have since seen first hand what a difference this knowledge has made in my own self-care and overall wellness. To give you a short explanation,  Ayurveda says that there are 5 great elements, within all things or Pancha Maha Bhutas- Earth (prithvi), Water (jala), Fire (agni), Air (vayu) and Space/Ether (akasha). From these 5 elements we can break it down further into the 3 Doshas (which means imbalance) Kapha (earth & water), Pitta (water & fire) and Vata (air & space/ether). Our Constitution is essentially what we are made up of- our Prakriti being what we are BORN with (think of this as your climate) and our CURRENT state (think of this as the weather) being our Vikriti.  Each person has a different constitution, thus each persons path to wellness will be different. All of the elements are present in each of us, but the pie chart looks different for each of us. Like attracts like and opposites balance us out. Through self-study and self-care  ayurveda helps us find balance with cleansing practices, diet, herbs, yoga, essential oils- even the type of music we listen to can help us find balance or create dis-ease!

Essential Oils

Essential oils are the natural extracts from the seeds, stems, roots, flowers, bark and other parts of plants. They have been used throughout history in a variety of wellness applications; in medical practice, beauty treatment, food preparation, therapeutic massage, aromatherapy, and over-all health and hygiene. Recently, the use of essential oils has grown rapidly as scientists and medical practitioners research and validate the numerous health benefits of Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils.  I am a wellness advocate for DoTerra Brand 100 % natural CPTG essential oils and am happy to help you receive the highest quality of oils!
